Adventure Pilot

The APPI PPG Adventure Pilot course is a Beginners course which provides the student with their first rating in the APPI PPG Education System. The student learns how to launch and control the wing on the ground, without the engine, and also learns how to control the Paramotor on the ground. The aim is for the student to perform at least 1 solo PPG Flight. At this level, the student is allowed to fly ONLY with radio communication and under the instructor's supervision. This rating allows a student to operate only under the close supervision of an APPI PPG Instructor and progress on to the APPI PPG Pilot course.yeran

Prerequisites/Course contents

To enrol in an APPI PPG Adventure Pilot Course, an individual must:
1. Be physically fit enough to take part in the training course.

2. Lecture 1: Theory of Flight
3. Introduction to the Wing and Harness
4. Untangling, folding and care of the Wing
5. Wearing the harness, clipping into the wing and 6 point checks
6. Forward and Reverse launch training

8. Hand Towing Training no higher than 30ft
OPTIONAL:Student Training Flights in a Tandem Paramotor at any time during the course (Instructor must hold a valid APPI PPG Tandem License to provide Tandem flights)

When hand towing there must be two towers who have been correctly briefed and supervised by a CFI. The two ropes should be no longer that 30ft each. Low Hops should only be performed after the student has been Hand Towed and demonstrated the ability to safely and correctly control, take off, fly and land the glider. 70% of all Paramotor accidents occur when running the engine on the ground. The student therefore needs to be thoroughly briefed in order to avoid any accidents.

OPTIONAL:Winch towing from no higher than 250ft having completed the above skills checks (Instructor must hold a valid APPI Winch Instructor license for this type of training)
OPTIONAL:Practise launches while wearing the engine without it running
Prior to 1st Solo Paramotor Flight the student must read and sign below:
I, (name of the student) understand that I have successfully completed the practical and theoretical stages of the APPI PPG Adventure Pilot course. I understand and agree that as Pilot in Command I am fully responsible for the safe conduct of any flight and am confident of my ability to undertake this step. Furthermore, I understand that the engine may fail, the radios may fail and that I am completely prepared to deal with both eventualities and to land safely.

Training and Certification

APPI PPG Adventure Pilot candidates must satisfactorily complete all course performance requirements by completing the training syllabus. To apply for certification, the certifying APPI PPG Instructor should submit online a completed, validated APPI PPG Adventure Pilot Application to the APPI PPG website, along with the required photo and application fee. APPI PPG will only issue a Certification Card once the student has attained the APPI PPG Pilot license.
Note:The APPI PPG Adventure Pilot course, when combined with the APPI PPG Adventure Pilot course, qualifies students as APPI PPG Pilots. If the student is in progress and continuing his training to become an APPI PPG Pilot, APPI PPG will wait until the validation is completed.
